We Moved!

I have a testimony of running. A couple of Saturdays ago, Kyle and I were finishing up a 10 mile run when I saw this info box for a basement apt for rent. Brett and I hadn't really decided if we wanted to try to get into a house or if we should rent for another year. We figured that the banks wouldn't give us a loan with him having his job for such a short period of time. So we went and looked at this apartment in Lindon that is really close to both of our parents homes. I fell in love at first sight. Here are some pictures of our new place. We just moved on Saturday and are all unpacked but we don't have the decorations up on the walls yet so just imagine them there.

Brett crashing on the couch after a very long week of way too many late nights.

This is my kitchen that I just love. I have never had so much counter space and cupboard space. I still haven't filled all the drawers and cupboards but I'm sure it won't take me too long. Sorry for the lack of table. We bought a set on craigslist and I'm refinishing them and it's taking me a little while. The chairs are part way done but I sill have to paint the seat part black because I didn't end up liking the stain I chose.

There is a big window seat with drawers where we have put Jules toys. She loves to open the drawers and find her books. This is me catching her in the act. She is such a good girl.

This is Brett's little office. It's small but at least there is a place to put his computer.

This is our bathroom. It is so big and spacious and nice. The washer and dryer are in there too but we are in the process of getting a set. In the mean time we are taking advantage of parents living close.

The jacuzzi bathtub that is huge

No pictures of our bedroom because I was washing sheets at the time. Here is our big closet though. I have a full size dresser in there that shows how deep it is. We took off the doors because they are obnoxious and use a curtain instead.

Jules bedroom.

She followed me around and found some more of her books.
That's our place. It has lots of storage closets everywhere and we are loving it. There is so much light because it is a walk out apt. Jules loves it here and loves discovering new things to get into. I also started working a little at Wadley Farms (http://wadleyfarms.com/home.html) helping out with receptions and what not. They just like someone to be there during the receptions so the people have someone to go to if they need help. I am loving it so far and it's not too much work but just enough for me to get out of the house and doing something. It will also give us a little extra money for a down payment on a house.

Shake It Jules!

Jules loves to dance to any sort of noise and/or music. This is the first time I've seen her shake her booty like this though. She knows exactly how to dance to certain songs. She just has a natural talent for it. She did not get this from me that's for sure.

What a week!

Well it's been a really busy week. Today we went with Brett's parents up to Butterfly Lake and it was the first time I've ever been fishing. Well, I had gone when I was little but don't really remember. I brought in the very first fish of the day. We ended up taking home 15 fish. It was a lot of fun and Jules even had a good time. We bought year long fishing licenses so if anyone ever wants to go fishing, let us know. Thanks for letting us tag along Ross and Tammy.

Gotta love a baby cheesing it for a picture.
Jules even helped Brett bring in a fish. It was so beautiful up there.
Jules showing off her work.
My sister is also in town and brought her little dog Toby with her. Jules has loved playing with him. Here she is feeding him some of her pizza.
This is Jules being helpful and sitting still for over a half an hour while we built a new playground in my parents back yard.
Some of the nieces playing in the little pool my mom bought them. It has been so hot the last couple of days.
So my mom and dad finally decided that since they have 12 grand kids, and 3 of them actually live with them, that they should get some sort of play set for them. So while my sister is here with her 4 kids we went and bought one from Sam's Club. The bad part is that we had to put it together. The box had a comforting message on the front. "WARNING: it takes 2 skilled people 20-24 hours to put together." Here are some step by step pictures of the progress. I was going to put up the progress that we did every 2 hours but that turned out to be a lot of pictures. I just hope the kids will appreciate all the hard work and sweat in the hot sun...
Before...
2 hours later
about 6 hours later
another 4 hours or so
2 days later.
about 4 hours later
The final product. The kids love it. Even when I put Jules up in the top part, she just can't stop smiling and talking. I think they will all have some fun and get some fresh air by playing outside now.
To add to our news, Brett got a job at MyFamily.com or TGN. We don't know exactly what he will be doing yet but we are excited. I knew something would come along and it's the job that he really wanted so we are very excited and counting our blessings.

My mom also got major surgery last week so we have been taking care of her. She's a tough one, and stubborn so she doesn't like us to help her if she doesn't need it. She is recovering quite well though.

My brother also had is appendix out which was a huge shock since we were with him a few hours earlier and he wasn't complaining about any pain.

It has now been a year since my cousins baby girl passed away from SIDS-Sad days. She was the happiest and cutest baby ever and is very sorely missed in the Naumann family.

I am right on schedule with my training of the half marathon I'm doing in August. To top it all off, Independence Day is tomorrow and all the festivities that come along with that. We have been really busy and are really tired but hopefuly we can celebrate hard and enjoy the freedoms we have.

Father's Day

I know I'm a little late with Father's Day and all but I did want to say how much I appreciate Brett. He is a great dad and a great husband. Here are a few pictures that I love of Brett and Jules. I know you've already seen some of these but they are just cute so you have to see them again.
How sweet is that?
This weekend we took Jules swimming for the first time. She didn't hate it but didn't love it. She was just calm the whole time and had fun.
We just went to the apartment complex we used to live and work at. It's kind of a social hang out for college students but just kept to ourselves and had fun.

I just want to vent a little. I'm getting really frustrated with the job market around here. Brett had a job but was always looking for something more because it didn't offer the family benefits we need. Finally he and his boss talked and since Brett wasn't happy there, they decided not to waste each other's time so he stopped working there at the beginning of the week. He has had some interviews but they are all the same, "You don't have enough experience". My question to all of you is, how the heck are you supposed to get experience if nobody will hire you? He graduated in the top 1% of his class and can't find a decent paying job with benefits. I know so many people that decided not to go to college and are making bank. Brett tries to do what he thinks is best and is ending up getting screwed(for lack of a better word). I know that something will come up but it just sucks waiting for it.

Jules has had a fever for the past 2 days because she is teething. This is the first time it's been really painful for her. It's the saddest thing. Jules is officially walking and loving it.
Living at my parents' house hasn't been as bad as we thought. Jules sleeps a lot more since the basement is darker. She gets spoiled rotten by grandma and grandpa when they get home from work. We all just help each other out and things are going great. Now if we could just get Brett a job...

No longer a baby

The other day when I got her hair all in pig tails, I put her on my nieces little tricycle and she loved it. She's growing up so fast and these pictures are proof. Look how big she looks. Lucky for me, she couldn't reach the peddles so I am still needed which makes me feel good.

I am trying to grow my hair out. It seems to be taking forever though. I usually get a hair cut when I feel a need to change something. I haven't been able to do that so instead I get to experiment on Jules. First it was the pig tails, which I am in love with now. Today I went a different route. I was giving her head a break from the pig tails and as I was brushing it I realized how much natural curl there is. Now I know you wouldn't guess it from the above pictures but look at this...
Instead of brushing it straight, I just ran my fingers through it after and this happened. Lou, if you thought Jules looked like Brett before, don't these pictures really make her look like him when he was a baby? The pictures didn't really turn out good but hopefully enough for you to get an idea.

I do have to say that she sits amazingly still while I do her hair. I just let her play with Brett's toothbrush and she's perfectly content.

Pictures

Here are the pictures we took from Jules birthday party. This is her opening her presents. I'm a horrible mom and didn't even get her anything. It just totally spaced me since we were so busy packing, moving, and working. Her earrings really were for her birthday though so I don't feel too bad. Luckily my family remembered and got her some stuff so she had something to open. She didn't have much success blowing out her candle. She wanted to touch it instead.
I thought she would be so good and excited to eat her cake. She was so tired though and for once, didn't like all the attention.
She didn't like this too much after she was done rubbing her eyes. OUCH!
This was a phase Jules went through for a couple of days. She would give people the nastiest looks. This was the best I could do on camera. If looks could kill though, we would all be dead. She thought it was kind of funny though and would laugh afterwards.
Today I got a little creative and put Jules hair in pig tails. The back looks really cute but the front makes her look even more like a boy. It's nice to be able to do something different with her hair though.
So I'm training for a half marathon. I'm doing it with Brett's brother, Kyle, and my brothers wife, Kellie. Our 10 week training officially starts next week but we have to make sure I can even start the training. I took Jules for a run up the canyon today and she loved it. Next time I will put a hat on her, that or wake up earlier. NAH!
Here is a video of Jules walking. She's still afraid to walk and where she can get around just fine on her hands and knees, she will continue to crawl instead of walk. She really has good balance though. Just a little scared.

Jules is 1!

So Jules had her birthday on Sunday and she got to eat her own cake. She also decided to walk like 2 days before her official birthday. She took 33 steps for Brett but hasn't really wanted to walk since. She has balance and everything, she just gets scared and knows she can get to where she wants to by crawling. She had a very uneventful birthday because we have been so busy packing and moving. We are moving in with my parents for a few months until we can qualify for a house loan with Brett's new job. We really don't know how we feel about living with parents again but hopefully it won't be too bad of a situation. In all the packing, Brett packed up the camera cord so I can't download pictures. Things have just been really crazy and busy and we are ready for them to slow down a little and ready for the change more than ever. I did enjoy my job at Ventana and got to know some really great people but I am a little glad to be done. There is some crazy drama that goes on and I just want to spend more time with Jules.

HOW TO MAKE A COMMENT

Ok, so for some reason our blog is retarded and won't let us make comments normally like every one else's blogs. You can still comment by clicking the title of the post. For instance, this post you would click on "HOW TO MAKE A COMMENT", then scroll down and it will let you make a comment at the end of the post. Some people know how to do this already but for you people who are new to our blog, that's how it's done. Thank you for having me.

Disneyland

Well we just had our trip to California where we enjoyed a wonderful vacation. It started out at 5:00am on Thursday the 1st. We won our trip on the radio. We got 4 3-day park hopper passes and 2 nights at the Pier Hotel, right next to Disneyland. We decided to take Kyle and Callie (Brett's brother and sister) with us. We had a blast. Here are some of the pictures.
We left in the snow in our little plane and arrived in beautiful, blue sky weather in CA. We were a little scared to be on such a small plane.
Our free hotel.Hollywood. This is in California Adventure.

Getting ready for another day at Disneyland. One of the dinky, but fun rides. You have to hit them all if you are there for 3 days.
A Bug's Life. I think we were trying to make bug faces...?
Don't know what Brett was doing. He made faces at every picture we took.
After 3 days at Disneyland we had a day break and spent time with Brett's cousin and her family. We went to church and just relaxed from all the rides, lines, lack of sleep, and sun. On Monday we went to Six Flags, Magic Mountain. It was so crazy there because longest we had to wait in line was 5 minutes and that's only because we wanted the front seats. There was hardly anybody there. We did manage to see a girl a used to work with, so that was fun. We realized that lines are a little bit of a blessing because it lets your stomach settle a little. By the end of the day we were done with roller coasters for a while.
This is the Superman ride it goes from 0 to 85 miles per hour in 6 seconds. It was crazy fun.
On Tuesday we went to the see the beautiful San Diego Temple. Doesn't Brett look buff? Gotta love how pictures can be so beceiving depending on the angle you take them at. Haha, it's funny ok.
After the temple we went to the beautiful beach. Yes, that is Brett is a sweatshirt. It was cold, windy and cloudy. Kyle was the only one crazy enough to go in the water.
Saying good bye at the airport the following day. Thank you Keri and family for everything you did. They dropped off a car at Disneyland for us, let us borrow it for the time we were there, and dropped us off at the airport. That's a lot when gas is $3.89 a gallon. They also let us sleep there and everything that comes with that. It's always a party with them. We watched her son, Thomas, a freshman, hit a home run in a varsity baseball game. They were the perfect hosts, now we just want to move down there.
To top it all off, we got a picture with Tinker Bell in our hands. Kyle even has her on his shoulders too. How did he get such a hottie?
Like always, it's nice to be home. We missed Jules and the more I was away from her, the more baby hungry I got. Good thing that ended once I had her in my arms again. She's the only baby I need for right now. We really appreciate my sister-in-law Kellie for watching her while we were gone. We never worried about her once. Except the fear that she was going to start walking while we were gone. Luckily, she's still too affraid to walk on her own.
Our lives got flipped a little quicker than we expected once we got home too. My job here at the apartment complex wasn't what we thought it was this whole time. I went from working 16 hours a week to finding out I was supposed to be working 30 hours a week. We were extremely blessed the past 6 months that we have been here but now that is going to change. I just can't handle being away from Jules for 30 hours a week. We are going to be moving here a lot sooner than we planned but it's all for the better. Brett will hopefully be finding a job here soon and then we're out. It was nice while it lasted but I guess it's time to move on. I just want to play mom.
